Share on twitterRolf-Stephan, born in 1964, went on to learn landscape gardening after finishing High school. From 1990-1994 he then studied landscape architecture in Nürtingen near Stuttgart, his main subjects being ecology and object planning.
Being a passionate golfer he also started to study golf course architecture at the British Institute of Golf Course Architects in 1999, which he successfully completed in 2002 with honours. The 2002 Year Award was also presented to him for his final design project.
Rolf-Stephan is also a registered landscape architect. The emphasis on his designs are primarily influenced by the strategic philosophy with main efforts in variety and fairness. He pays very high attention to keeping and improving the balance of nature. The design of the Budersand GC as the first true 18 hole links golf course in Germany, based on his home island Sylt, opened in 2008 and was was awarded as the best new course in Germany for 2009. On international projects he works in co-operation with Peter Fjallman offering a wide range of all aspects in golf course architecture.
