Golfclub Schloss Mainsondheim eV

Staying at the Best Western Hotel Polisina in Ochsenfurt, we had a great starting point this weekend for our golf gents club challenge “playing 5 courses in 3 days”. The “battlefield” located in Franconia, a region of northern Bavaria and state of Germany, sets the beautiful scene.

This first day we played Golfclub Schloss Mainsondheim eV. About 20 minutes in car from the Hotel and 1½ hour from Frankfurt am Main airport.

We arrived a bit early to the golfclub, got a little snack from the restaurant and something to drink. Equipped with scorecards and a comprehensive birdiebook, the friendly staff in the office took the time needed to direct us to the driving area. One of grass and the other of mats. 

What a location! Hole 1 to 9 surrounded by the beautiful landscape with wine fields and the autobahn bridge in the background. Hole 10 to 18 plays along the amazing Main river with its 525 kilometres. The four of us agreed that the back nine were a bit more difficult than the first nine so maybe a visit in the proshop, for some extra golfballs, after the match is inevitable.

The parklane course has it’s signature hole on the 16th. Par 5, Handicap index 2, playing 447 meters from yellow tee. Dogleg left with an island green. Wow!

Some holes such as hole 3, contains biotope rough, a protected nature habitats. This area is only cut once a year.
