The course was opened on June 22, 1996, but without Nick Faldo''s blessing. He examined the course together with Bernhard Langer, Alex Cejka and Jesper Parnevik on September 16, 1996. His conclusion on that day: He was pleased that “this championship course is one of the most beautiful in Germany”.
