On March 24, 1966, 51 mostly older, resourceful and, above all, golf-interested men and women from the Siegen and Olpe districts and the neighboring federal states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate came together to formally found the Siegen-Olpe Golf Club. Curiosity was great, but the sport of golf was practically unknown in general - people played tennis or sailed on the Biggesee, which had just been completed.

Wildly determined and cheerful, they set about building the golf course and clubhouse - with a membership of 78 people at the start of construction.

This first course was unique: Bernhard von Limburger (at that time a top authority among golf course architects with an international reputation) turned 12 hectares of cattle pasture into an enchanting short course with par 56. Eight par 3 holes and one par 4 hole were used from the summer Played considerable golf in 1967. The players of the GC Siegen-Olpe were known and feared on other courses because of their excellent short game (they couldn''t use really long shots at home).

In the consolidation phase of the 1970s, investments were made to improve playing conditions. Then as now, there were celebrations - from 1969 in the first clubhouse. But the main thing was GOLF – also in the form of golf trips and competitions with friendly clubs.

In 1978, the then 250 members were looking for a way to build a course with the SSS and Par 72 criteria on a suitable site. After many nerve-wracking discussions, the ground and permits for the construction of a 9-hole course with par 70 were secured.

This course had hardly been completed after extensive construction work in 1984 when the idea of ​​expanding it to 18 holes began. But first, today''s clubhouse was built in 1989.

The GCSO is constantly evolving so that members and guests can enjoy their hobby.
