The Freudenstadt Golf Club was founded in 1929 and is therefore one of the oldest and most traditional golf courses in Germany.
Under the direction of the English golf course architect Wilson, a 7-hole course was initially created. However, the existing facility was destroyed by the Second World War and the subsequent use of the site as a training ground for the stationed occupying forces. The Freudenstadt golfers owe this to the creation of a completely new 9-hole course. Construction work began in the spring of 1953 and just one year later the course planned by golf course architect HE Gärtner was playable with a length of 2,815 m and a par of 72 strokes. On July 12, 1954, the ceremonial reopening of the golf course in Freudenstadt took place. After initially only one room in a private house and later only a simple wooden barracks served as club rooms, the clubhouse, which still exists today, was inaugurated in 1970.
The golf course is still being optimized today and offers everything that makes a golfer''s heart beat faster. A round of golf with water hazards, park-like courses and very well-kept greens in a wonderful Black Forest landscape, simply pure relaxation.
