Two Exceptional Courses on Suffolk’s Stunning Heritage Coastline
The Championship Course at 6,603 yards, but with no par fives on the men’s card, is a substantial challenge for even the best golfer. Every hole presents an examination in shot making and accuracy.
Founded in 1884, Aldeburgh Golf Club is England’s second oldest maritime heathland course. Our Championship Course is a substantial challenge for even the best golfer. Every hole presents an examination in shot making and accuracy. It is also a beautiful place to play golf. The views of the River Alde and glimpses of the North Sea, grey one day, blue another, are enough to raise the spirits even when the score is not quite up to expectation.
The early influence of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the country’s first female doctor and mayor, and Millicent Fawcett, both of whom were members, ensured that Aldeburgh Golf Club is probably the first golf club in the world where women have always had equal membership and playing rights with the men.
A visit in the winter is particularly enjoyable as the course plays beautifully, with no need for preferred lies, temporary tees or greens and you can enjoy a round in just 3 hours.
