Nedlands Golf Club was founded on the Melvista Reserve in 1932 by Cyril Dudley CBE, who was the President for 27 of the first 32 years of the club. At that time it became the eighth metropolitan golf club formed in Perth, with Royal Perth being the oldest (1895).
Cyril’s dream was to have a club to “foster golf”, where the only qualification you needed was to be “a good bloke” and “a good sportsman”. This ideal is still the corner stone of the Nedlands Golf club, where its hospitality and sportsmanship is the envy of many, and since 1947 has been the home of the “Nedlands Masters” a championship tradition that has truly lived up to Cyril’s dream of “fostering golf” to many of Australia’s top professionals .
Set amongst 43 acres of native Tuart, Redgum, and Banksia trees (many reported to be over 300 years old) and flanked by sweeping views of Matilda Bay, you will find the Nedlands golf course in one of Perth''s oldest and finest suburbs. Nedlands is a private, members 9 hole championship layout, and on each tee you will find two teeing areas. The outward nine defined by white tee markers (men) and red markers (ladies) and on the inward nine blue (men) and yellow (ladies). Each offers a subtle new challenge and a different perspective to each hole. Visitors and potential new members are welcome.
