The Golf of Saint Malo, was born in 1986 from the initiative of the municipality of Tronchet, the City of Saint Malo and Robert Thoreux (entrepreneur in the construction industry). It is Hubert Chesneau, the architect to whom we owe the Golf National, host of the Open de France, who drew the plans.
In July 1986, two 9-hole loops around the clubhouse were officially inaugurated, forming the original 18-hole course, our "Old Course".
In March 1989, an additional loop was opened (from the current 7 to 15), which forms the new 18 holes. The Saint Malo golf course then became the largest golf course in Brittany. The Club House is a former 18th century priory belonging to the Benedictine abbey of Le Tronchet, whose neoclassical architecture you can see at hole n°7. It was therefore a place of retreat frequented by the monks who cultivated the surrounding land. These lands are the former hunting ground of the famous corsair Surcouf whose hunting lodge you can see at hole n°10. The Clubhouse is also marked by a more recent history, during the 2nd World War it was the refuge of maquisards, unfortunately denounced and deported.
In 1994, Serge Raulic, President of the Thermes Marins de Saint Malo , golf enthusiast and lover of this site, bought the Saint Malo golf course and gave it a second life by carrying out drainage works and repairing a few holes. to make it even more attractive.
To continue its development, in 2003 a 3-star hotel was inaugurated, it was classified 4 stars in 2020. Integrating a new building into a construction made of old stones like the old Priory was a feat.
In barely 8 months of work, 30 luxury rooms, a seminar pavilion and a new restaurant room spring from the ground, integrating perfectly into the setting and the old premises.
