Golf Club Metaponto was born from the foresight of the President of the nearby Riva dei Tessali , the oldest golf club in the South, Angelo Zella. He decided to transform a beautiful nineteenth-century Lucanian farmhouse into a place of relaxation and fun, winning the bet and allowing sportsmen and women not to appreciate the uniqueness of these places. For years the Metaponto Golf Club has hosted the Italian Tessali Metaponto Open of Puglia and Basilicata, one of the most important sporting events in Southern Italy.
