Located at the gates of the city of Bayonne, in the town of Bassussarry , and just 10 minutes from the beaches of Biarritz, the Golf Club de Bayonne - Bassussarry offers you an 18-hole course of character, nestled in the middle of a forest of oaks and in the heart of the Basque Country.
Its wide fairways extend between bodies of water, century-old trees and numerous bunkers dominated by the Rhune and the Pyrenees .
This idyllic setting inspired the American architect, Rocky Roquemore , who knew how to harmonize a very stylish layout in a grandiose, hilly and wooded natural site , to offer golfers of all levels the pleasure of the little white ball.
The main idea which, at the beginning of the 90s, guided the American architect Rocky Roquemore was the available space, approximately 87 hectares, to establish a golf course in the middle of an oak grove.
This space has made it possible to create a course, the longest in the Landes on the border of the Southern Basque Country, wide fairways, holes very distinct from each other and sometimes distant from the following tees. The course, very hilly, is however not penalizing and if one infrequently achieves exploits, one generally plays his handicap.
When Jean Lecouls, business manager, initiator of the project, asked the American architect to design this route at the gates of Bayonne, the key ideas proposed by Rocky
