The Golfclub Emstal eV, Lingen, was founded in 1977 and is celebrating its 40th club anniversary this year. It all started with a few golfers and people interested in golf who, among other things, ended up in Lingen on business. Since there was no golf course in the area, a golf club was founded out of necessity with the aim of building an 18-hole golf course.
As early as 2005, the Golfclub Emstal eV in Lingen learned about the environmental concept of the same name from the German Golf Association at a “Golf & Natur” information event, which was developed in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation and the Greenkeeper Association Germany. The project is scientifically supported by the Lawn Department of the University of Hohenheim.
The primary goal of "Golf & Natur" is the protection of nature and the environment while at the same time ensuring optimal play.
Well-kept playing areas promote the joy of playing outdoors and become a decisive competitive factor for new members and green fee players. In the early days of golf, it was enough to use sheep to tend the course.
