On October 3rd, 1954 the Golf-Club Lindau-Bad Schachen eV was founded. The well-known golf course architect Dr. Bernhard von Limburger received the order to build 9 fairways. He was impressed by the beauty of the area around the "Schloss Schönbühl" north of the island town of Lindau on Lake Constance. In the spring of 1956, the golf course was inaugurated.
The plans for the expansion to 18 holes were drawn up by the Lindau landscape architect Dipl.-Ing. Kurt Rossknecht. On June 22, 1984, the time had finally come. The 18-hole golf course was opened with a lot of celebrities and 600 guests for the game. In August of the same year, the young golf professional Bernhard Langer from Augsburg accepted an invitation from the board to a demonstration game. He scored the first course record with 66 strokes.
In addition to fantastic views of Lake Constance and the nearby Alps in the three-country corner Germany/Austria/Switzerland, the golf course has developed into one of the most beautiful courses in Germany over the years.
