The Vasa Kråklund golf course is located seven kilometers from the city center. Golf was played there for the first time in 1969. After the course was changed and enlarged several times, the 18-hole course was completed in 1993. Swedish architect Björn Eriksson has also been responsible for the most recent changes and the extension to 27 holes that was completed in July 2006.
The holes that came into use in 1993 (the old ones 1 - 9) now form the Yellow Path. The White course that starts at the clubhouse and the Blue course that starts at the ranks partly consist of the new holes that were cleared partly by the old holes 10 - 18. The lighter Yellow track runs through a field landscape. The White and Blue path consists of holes that alternate between parkland and rocky woodland. Both the Blue and White paths are extremely demanding, although the holes are relatively short.
Today, the course is a pleasant park course, which is challenging enough even for a skilled player, but also provides an opportunity for a beginner to enjoy the game provided that not taking all the risks offered. The height differences on the course are not very large so you can pass 27 holes even if you would have neglected with the fitness training.
The course was very well managed which is why in Vaasa you always play on nice fairways and greens. There is a lot of ruff, but it is well managed so that you find the ball, it requires playing skill to get away from it.
Exercise opportunities: A large range where there is also an exercise bunker and putting green. Another practice green is in front of the clubhouse. On the course there is also a Par 3 playing area.
Clubhouse: Modern and spacious, A-rights, large covered terraces increase the usefulness of weather as the weather. Caddiemaster and Proshop can be found in the clubhouse.
